Plough & Share will consider loan applications for any worthwhile purpose. Each application is treated in the utmost confidence and will be considered on its own merits. It is credit union policy to meet the borrowing requirements of as many members as possible, depending on the available funds.

The decision to lend you money will be strictly in accordance with credit union policy, the decision will normally be made by a loans officer soon after your application is received in the office.  For larger or unusual requests they may need to be refer you application to the Credit Committee which might delay the decision slightly.

Instant Loans

Plough and share is able to provide instant loans even if you are not yet a member.  This is normally based on your ability to repay the loan.  You can apply today online or over the phone but will need to tell us about your income and what you spend each week or month so that we can see if you can afford to repay the loan.

Standard Member Loans

A Standard Member Loan is based on you being a regular saver (for a minimum of 3 months).  First loans are normally limited to twice the member’s savings and have a maximum 1-year repayment period.  Second loans can be up to 3 times the member’s savings, over a maximum of 5 years.

Plough & Share want to be as flexible as possible in granting loans and even if you do not meet the above criteria you may still apply.  The Credit Committee will consider the application and one of them may contact you for further details, in confidence, then give you an answer within 10 working days.
